Hello All,
Please, please take the time to read this because if you are not interested then maybe someone you know is…….
I wanted to share some information about a great community service project. Last year, some students from 6th grade, NJHS, and the art club took a trip to a local animal shelter here in Santo Domingo. 6th grade students had a bake sale to raise money, and other students collected and donated dog/cat food, towels, bowls, and animal toys. Visiting the animal shelter was a wonderful experience for both students and CMS staff as well. We are hoping that the commitment to help street animals does not stop with this first group of CMSers. Our hope is that individuals or other groups will continue to support this wonderful cause. The gracious people at the shelter provided us with a list of items that are still in need, and I promised that I would share with the CMS community the highlights of our experience and spread the word that this organization exists. Everything donated, including money, is used for the betterment of the animals: vaccinations, medicine, food, water, etc. It is a non-profit organization and it is located in the Zona Colonial. Injured animals are taken from the street, provided shelter and food, vaccines and sterilization, and then once they are healthy they are put up for adoption. The animals that do not get adopted live out their life in the shelter. The woman that owns this facility is building another shelter in Jarabacoa which will house many more animals. So, how can the CMS community help????????
