In cycle 7:

In this cycle, we will be continuing to work on our "Fairy Tale 3 Ways" unit where we explore how movement choices, vocal choices, and script choices affect the communication of a story.

Part 1:  Fairy Tale Movement Pieces.

In class, we have been working in our groups to communicate the plots of our Fairy Tales through only movement choices (using absolutely no sound or verbal communication).

Final group presentations:

  • D period Friday, Oct. 24th
  • E period Monday, Oct. 27th

Part 2:  Fairy Tale Soundscapes.

When we finish our Movement Pieces, your groups will be communicating your Fairy Tales using only your voices (without movement or words)

In cycle 7:

In this cycle, we will be continuing work on our Group Skit Projects.  So far, you and your group should have:

  • Read through your script at least 3 times.
  • Highlighted your lines and cue lines in different colors.
  • Turned in your Character Background Analysis.
  • Created your Ground Plan with your cast/group members.

Now, we are working on our Character Motivation behind each play, scene, and each line.  By the end of class on Friday, Oct. 24th you should have the following ready for Ms. Kimi to check:

  • Identify and write out your character's superobjective, or what your character wants/goal throughout the whole play.  **This is especially important if you have a play excerpt from a larger work.  **If you have a scene that is a short play or skit within itself, remember that your superobjective may be the same as your scene objective.
  • Identify and write out your character's scene objective or your characters wants/goal in your particular scene.
  • Identify and write in your script beside/under each line a line objective for each line your character speaks.  Remember that these should be stated as an infinitive with an action verb "to explain", "to command", "to question", "to persuade", etc.  The more colorful and specific your verbs are, the easier it will be as an actor to communicate that to your audience.
